Edna Marie Gerdner
Burlington - Edna Marie Gerdner, 95, of Burlington, died Wednesday, October 8, 2020 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born August 11, 1925 in Burlington, Iowa she was the daughter of Raymond Paul Roscoe and Olga Anna (Hoelzen) Rust. She married Richard P. Gerdner on June 30, 1950 in Burlington. He preceded her in death April 8, 2018.
Edna worked alongside her husband with Gerdner Rental Properties for 67 years until their retirement in 2017.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was a Girl Scout leader and loved tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She enjoyed bowling and was an extensive traveler, visiting such places as Egypt, Israel, England, Australia, South Africa, and Sweden. She was an avid reader and enjoyed researching genealogy and the history of Burlington. She was a member of the Des Moines County Genealogy Society.
Edna is survived by her daughter Linda Gerdner of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Virgil Rust and Rudolph "Rudy" Rust and one sister Vera Berry.
The graveside funeral service and entombment in the family mausoleum for Mrs. Gerdner will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 14th at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Chaplain Jay Miiller will officiate.
