Obituary
Donald Ray King, 94, of Burlington died Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born November 20, 1923 in Jackson Center, Ohio, he was the son of Clarence and Cleo King. He married Anna Mae Hector on December 21, 1946 in Belmore, Ohio. She died October 3, 1983.
Don graduated from Jackson Center Ohio High School in 1941 and from Ohio Northern University in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 in the 100th Infantry Division, seeing combat in Europe during WWII. He received the Combat Engineering Badge, Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
After graduation he worked at General Motors, Ford Tractor, John Deere, J.I. Case and J.C.B. He was Assistant Chief Engineer at Terra Haute, Indiana from 1968 to 1973. He was Chief Engineer at J.I. Case in Burlington from 1973 to 1980 and Vice President of J.C.B from 1980 until his retirement in 1999.
He was a member of the F & A Masonic Lodge #458 of Jackson Center, Ohio, Professional Engineering Society, Society of Automotive Engineers, Disabled American Veteran Society and Oak Street Baptist Church and a former member of the Burlington Golf Club and the Burlington Noon Lions Club.
He enjoyed golf, NASCAR, model railroads, Bible study and Bible history.
Survivors include his two children; Mike (Joyce) King and Shellie King both of Burlington; three grandchildren, Michele, Katje and Joshua and three great grandchildren, Ethan, Lucas and Logan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Robert C. King and one great niece.
The funeral service for Mr. King will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 23rd in Lunning Chapel. Pastor Ralph Wingate will officiate. Interment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22nd at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
