Obituary
Bill Venvertloh, 48, of Burlington, died at 9:45 AM Thursday, December 27, 2018, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born January 30, 1970, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Donald Lee and Gracie Ferguson Venvertloh. On October 10, 1998, he married Julie Heater in Burlington.
Bill was a Sergeant for the Burlington Police Department where he was employed for 21 years.
He graduated from Burlington High School in 1988. He was a 1995 graduate of Western Illinois University with a degree in criminal justice.
Bill enjoyed going over to his Grandma Lettie Mae's house as a boy to help with chores because he knew he would be rewarded with a feast of wonderful, homemade food. Boy Scouts were important to Bill and he achieved the rank of Life Scout. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved time spent coaching baseball for his boys teams, playing cards, fantasy football and baseball. He loved golfing with his brothers, and cherished the brothers annual bowling tournament where the winner took home not only a trophy, but bragging rights for the next year.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jacob Venvertloh and Samuel Venvertloh; his parents; two brothers, Neal (Kara) Venvertloh of Burlington, Dave Venvertloh of Lakewood, CO; mother-in-law, Barb Heater of Burlington; father-in-law, Ed Heater of New London; one sister-in-law, Kim (Chad) Kerr of Jefferson City, MO; two nieces and one nephew, Kiley, Chelsey, and Koby Kerr.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and two uncles.
Visitation will be from noon until 6:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Bill will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at the Burlington Memorial Auditorium with Reverend Simeon Counterman and Jill Larkins officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for his sons' college education.
