MacArthur “Mac” Coffin II, 71, of Burlington died at 11:36 AM Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, IA.
Born September 30, 1950, in Burlington, IA, he was the son of MacArthur Coffin Sr. and Constance "Connie" Bacher Coffin. He married Deborah Alderson on August 21, 1971. They later divorced. He married Linda Fisher on July 14, 1990. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2021.
He graduated from Burlington High School, attended SCC and went on to University of Iowa to get a Double Major Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance.
Mac worked for Frank Millard & Company Inc. for over 57 years, ending his career as CEO and Owner. He was an active member of Mechanical Contractors Association of Iowa, National Electrical Contractor Association, Sheet Metal Association of North America, National Carrier Corporation Contractor of the Year. He supported many community events including: Fort Madison Rodeo, Fort Madison Riverfest, Burlington Athletic Booster Club, Police Production, Slocum 50 Foundation, Boy Scout Troop 25, Greater Burlington Partnership, and Lee County Economic Development. Mac accomplished many things in life such as, an Emmy award winner at the Greater Burlington Partnership, Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and was the past president and board member of Steamboat Days for over 25 years.
Mac loved going to work everyday and working alongside his two sons, Jason and Ryan, and his brother, Steve. He adored his grandchildren and always wanted the best for them.
Survivors include his son, Ryan (Tamara) Coffin; his four grandchildren, Bailey Rump, Halle, Brenton, and Taylor Coffin of Middletown, IA; his brother, Steve (Lynn) Coffin of Burlington, IA; his sister, Sarah Coffin-Vetter of Del Mar, CA; three nieces, Courtney and Emma Coffin and Emily Seidel; and his nephew, Robby Vetter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, MacArthur Coffin Sr. and Constance Coffin; his wife, Linda Coffin and his son, Jason Coffin.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The Memorial Service for Mac will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Burlington Golf Club following the burial. For those needing parking assistance, the Burlington Golf Club will be offering valet parking.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the SCC Scholarship Foundation and the Burlington Capitol Theater Renovation Project.
