Obituary
LeVern Brown was born on June 16, 1936 to the union of Dovie and Columbus Williams in Hickman, Arkansas.
LeVern received her formal education at Childress Elementary High School in Wynne, Arkansas.
LeVern accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, under the leadership of Reverend McFan of Union Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Wynne, Arkansas. She continued her faith under the leadership of Pastor Donald Robinson, Sr. of Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Burlington, IA. LeVern was a member of Whole Truth Missionary Baptist Church of Burlington, serving as a Sunday school teacher, usher, treasurer, and on the Mother's Board.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, watching movies and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed taking care of her dogs, "Ozzie", "JJ," and "Mocha".
LeVern Brown departed this life on December 3, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charita Carter (daughter), Latoya Heath and Misty Pursell (granddaughters).
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Harriett Heath of Milwaukee, WI; six sons, Gregory Darnell (Geraldine Johnson) of Burlington, Iowa; Ivory Darnell of Burlington, Iowa; Curtis Heath of Burlington, Iowa; Michael (Linda) Ashford of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Timothy Ashford of Burlington, Iowa; and Jessie Ashford (Sophene Patterson) of Burlington, Iowa; two sisters, Mae Frances Mcquay of Calument City, IL and Erma Isom of Burlington, Iowa; and one brother, Jerry (Jackie) Williams of Burlington, Iowa.
LeVern Brown was the grandmother of 36 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2515 Madison Avenue, Burlington, Iowa.
The funeral service for Mrs. Brown will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Bethany Lutheran Church with Erma Isom officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A repast will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church following the burial.
