Obituary

Allen D. Waterman Sr., 80, of Burlington, died Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Great River Medical Center. Born May 16, 1938, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of David O. and Mabel R. (Hunter) Waterman.
Allen married Cathern L. Moyers on February 14, 1959, in Burlington, Iowa.
Allen attended school in Stronghurst High School and served in the United States Army for four years. He worked at Lehigh Leopold for 30 years and Flint Cliff (Klein) Manufacturing for 20 years. He retired 10 years ago at the age of 70.
He was a Boy Scout leader, baseball and soccer coach for his children and grandchildren. He designed and built the concession trailer for the Burlington Greyhound Booster Club. He was a talented woodworker who always had a project in progress. He was extremely devoted to his wife, kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Cathern; daughters Betty Bodeman of North Platte, Nebraska; Esther (Clem Steinhoff) Waterman of Danville, Iowa; Roberta (Jon) Keck of Macomb, Illinois; sons Allen Waterman, Jr. of Johnston, Iowa; and Larry (Patricia) Waterman of Mishicot, Wisconsin; 26 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandson.
The memorial service for Mr. Waterman will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 29th at Lunning Chapel. Pastor Jon Keck will officiate. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
