Phyllis Jean Gibbs, 87, of Burlington, died Thursday, December 22, 2022 at her home.
Born December 18, 1935 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Walter Clarence and Ethel Fern Pfeiff Fritz. She graduated from Burlington High School and Brush College.
On November 2, 1962 she married Dennis Randall Gibbs in Burlington. He died January 15, 2013.
Phyllis was a receptionist for the Mississippi Valley Boy Scouts of America office in Burlington, an office worker for National Research Bureau for 18 years from 1965 to 1982 and then was a nursing assistant at Burlington Medical Center Klein Unit for 18 years. She retired in 1998.
Phyllis was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ. She was involved with the St. Luke Women’s Fellowship, and she enjoyed needlepoint, cross-stitch and walking.
She is survived by her son Roger A. (Teresa) Gibbs of Burlington; grandson Brian Velazquez of Burlington; sister-in-law Barbara Fritz of Burlington; three nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dennis and brother Rolland L. Fritz.
Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
The memorial service for Phyllis will be 9:00 am, Tuesday, January 3rd at St. Luke United Church of Christ with Pastor Peggy Stott officiating. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
