Zella Mae (Selleck) Poggemiller, 99, of Burlington died Friday, February 14, 2020 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born October 31, 1920 in Ralls County, Missouri she was the daughter of Ben F. and Alice J. (Leake) Selleck.
She was a 1939 graduate of Center High School, Center, Missouri.
She married Floyd J. Poggemiller on April 24, 1945. He died March 14, 1989.
Zella worked for I.A.A.P. during WWII, General Electric, and was a supervisor for Winegard until her retirement in 1984.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and previous member of the Eagles Aerie #150, the Moose #529 Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She was witty and all who knew her knew she did not have any issues expressing her opinions.
Survivors include her two children, Don (Anita) Poggemiller and Mary Staub both of Burlington; four grandchildren, Shawn (Patty) Poggemiller, Bryan (Amy) Poggemiller, Devin (Trish) Staub and Heather (Brad) Lange and nine great grandchildren; Tom Poggemiller, Nick Poggemiller, Morgan Staub, Gracie Lange, Parker Lange, Gage Lange, Sawyer Staub, Megan Poggemiller and Cami Poggemiller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Sam Selleck and her son-in-law John Staub.
The funeral service for Mrs. Poggemiller will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22nd at Lunning Chapel. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society and First Presbyterian Church.
