Obituary
Lois Darlene Gerdom, 88, of Burlington, died at 5:30 AM Wednesday, July 19, 2018, at home.
Born February 14, 1930, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Clayton and Mabel Whipple Heitmeier. On April 11, 1951, she married Franklin Delano Gerdom in Burlington. He died on October 30, 1975.
She worked as a waitress, then for LaMont for 10 years and as a home caregiver from 1986 to 2011.
Lois was a member of Kings Daughters, National Senior Citizens, CB Radio Club and The Golden Oldies, where she had served on various board member positions. She enjoyed gardening, reading, watching television, and dancing. She loved serving her church and attending various church activities. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Cluney of Burlington, Linda (Miles) Hausner of WY, Ruby (John) Hanson of Shambaugh, IA; 12 grandchildren; 30+ great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren, one brother, Gary Heitmeier of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Robert, Larry, and Virgil, and one son Frankie Gerdom who passed on February 8, 2018.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Monday, July 23, 2018 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Gerdom will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 23, 2018, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Don Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the First Assembly of God following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Golden Oldies and Great River Hospice.
