Dolores Elaine Shoemaker, 101, of Burlington, died at 4:48 PM Friday, February 4, 2022, at Savannah Heights in Mount Pleasant.
Born November 28, 1920, in Green Bay Township, Lee County, Iowa, she was the daughter of Rolland and Georgia May Peel Yaley. On November 22, 1941, she married Joseph Charles Shoemaker in Kahoka, MO. He passed on July 12, 2016.
She was a graduate of Burlington High School.
Prior to being a homemaker, mother, and grandmother, Dolores worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and Campbell Chain.
Dolores was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She enjoyed playing bridge, going camping, golfing, and being involved with the King's Daughters. She also loved spending time with her grandsons.
Survivors include son, Joseph "Jody" (Susan) Shoemaker of West Burlington, and two grandsons, Matthew Shoemaker of Burlington, and David Shoemaker of West Burlington.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorene Patrick.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Prugh Crematory.
A graveside service will be held for Dolores at Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
