Martha Ann Landstrom, 83, of Burlington, died at 7:05 PM Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at the RidgeView Assisted Living in Burlington.
Born September 30, 1935, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Roy Carl and Ethel M. Miller Nesius. On October 3, 1953, she married Charles Melvin Landstrom in Burlington.
Martha worked for nine years for the Burlington Community School District in food service and as the elevator operator and gift wrapper clerk for 16 years for JS Schramm. She also worked for Benner Tea Co., as sales clerk at Clark Drug Store and retired from Stoermers.
She was a 1953 graduate of Burlington High School.
She was a nine year member of Latty Church. She also was a 60 year plus member of Zion United Church of Christ, where she was Sunday School teacher, and belonged to the Zion Baby Quilters. She was an active member and past president of the Post Auxiliary, a past member of Grimes P.T.A., consistory, president of Christian Service Circle, and Elder-Chairman of the Burlington High School class of 1953 for the last 40 years. She was an avid Burlington Bee's, and St. Louis Cardinal fan. She had toured all of the major league baseball parks with Jay Buckley tours, and had hosted some. She was a blood donor and had given 17 gallons.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; one son, Brian Charles (Sheri) Landstrom of Burlington; two daughters, Barbara Ann (Larry) Meth of Burlington, and Debra Sue (Kirk) Van Scoy of Burlington; six grandchildren, Todd, Mitch, Kelly, Karen, Courtney, and Briana; seven great-grandchildren, twins, Austin and Ethan, Olivia, Isaiah, Mason, Jase and Emma; one sister, Janelle (Richard) Harken of West Des Moines, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother: James Leroy Nesius, two sisters: Marjorie Ita and Mary Lou Wilson, two nephews, and three brothers in law.
As per Martha's request cremation has been accorded.
Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 PM, Friday, June 28th with the family to receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Mrs. Landstrom will be Saturday, June 29th, at 10:00 AM at Zion United Church of Christ with Reverend Brice Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Zion United Church of Christ following the burial.
Memorials have been established for Zion United Church of Christ and the Burlington Bees Baseball Association.
