James Court Klein, 93, of Burlington, died 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born February 14, 1926 in Burlington, he was the son of William and Eva Vera (Court) Klein. He married Dorothy Dannies on September 11, 1946 in Burlington. She died April 1, 2000.
James served in the Army during WWII. He worked for Sunshine Dairy for many years. Following that he worked as a truck driver, driving for Montgomery Ward, Truck Transport and Chittenden & Eastman until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ.
He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, gardening, making homemade ice cream, spending time in the swimming pool, playing the organ and visiting with people.
Survivors include his three children; Deborah Dayton of Burlington, Pamela (Larry) Selser of Bettendorf, Iowa and Jeffrey (Nancy) Klein of Tucson, Arizona; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, James Michael Klein and two brothers, Donald and William.
The funeral service for Mr. Klein will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 24th at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Mark Schowalter will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veteran Honor Guard will provide military rites. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service.
