Obituary

James Rodell Perry, 80, of Burlington, died Thursday, March 17, 2022 at his home surrounded by family.
Born May 7, 1941 in Andover, Missouri he was the son of Eugene and Arlie Ione (Hill) Perry. He married Erma Parkhurst on July 6, 1962 in Eagleville, Missouri and together they celebrated almost 60 years of marriage.
Mr. Perry worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years; however his true passion was farming. He was a member of West Hill United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed woodworking and loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes Basketball and Football games and Gunsmoke. He especially enjoyed his visits with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Erma Perry of Burlington; three children, Bev McKasson, Richard Perry and Wes (Patricia) Perry; grandchildren, Luke McKasson, Jennifer (RJ) Shoultz, Ashley Perry and Gage (Rebecca) Parks; great grandchildren, Airik, Aiden, Emersyn, Ali, Aaron and Logan; brother Don Perry of Burlington and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack Perry and Joe Perry and two sisters Shirley Tomlinson and Jane Ann Barnes.
The funeral service for Mr. Perry will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19th at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Bruce Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
A memorial has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice.
