Rena Marie Hatfield, 79, of Burlington, died Friday, March 26, 2021 at Bickford Cottage.
Born June 18, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa she was the daughter of Raymond Johnson and Gertrude Berreau. On June 16, 1962, she married Richard Hatfield in Sioux Falls, SD. She graduated from Washington High School and Nettleton Commercial College, both in Sioux Falls, SD.
Mrs. Hatfield retired as secretary for the University of Iowa’s Child Health Specialty Clinic office in Burlington in 2003. Prior to that she was a secretary in the College of Pharmacy at Drake University and later was secretary in the office of the Assistant to the President at Drake.
Following her retirement she worked part-time at Hy-Vee and was a volunteer at Great River Medical Center.
She was a long-time member of First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ where she was an elder emeritus and served as church moderator. She served on several church committees and was the chair of the Lydia Circle group.
She is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Gray (Clifford) of Quincy, IL; one son Jeffery Hatfield (Liz) of Urbandale, IA; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two brothers Earl Johnson and David Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Richard Scott Hatfield, one brother Keith Johnson and one sister Judie Howell.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hatfield will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 30th at First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ. The Rev. David Yonker will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
