Shirley A. Sours, 77, of Burlington died Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born July 13, 1942 in Mercer County, Missouri she was the daughter of George and Martha (Hamilton) Wolford. She married James Sours on September 7, 1962 and together they celebrated almost 58 years of marriage.
Shirley was a graduate of Burlington Notre Dame High School. She worked for Sylvania and was a homemaker. She took care of many area foster children for many years and babysat her grandchildren.
She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish.
Shirley enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family. She loved holiday times, attending sporting events for her grandchildren and watching the Hallmark channel. She was an avid Notre Dame and Iowa Hawkeye football fan.
Survivors include her husband James Sours of Burlington; three sons, Craig Sours and Jeff Sours both of Burlington and Travis (Bobbie) Sours of Middletown; several foster children; three grandchildren Taylor Sours, Trevor Sours and Tyler Sours all of Middletown and one sister Charlotte Langstaff of Davenport, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Clifford Wolford.
The funeral service for Mrs. Sours will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 20th at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Father Mike Phillips will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at Lunning Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
