Obituary
Sharon Lee Carspecken, 85, of Burlington, died at 4:54 PM Saturday, September 18, 2021 at her home.
Born June 30, 1936, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Albert and Marion Hamilton Orth. On September 20, 1958, she married Jack Carspecken in Burlington.
She graduated from Burlington High School in 1954.
Sharon worked for the telephone company, for Mississippi Valley Savings and Loan Association and later for Des Moines County Abstract Company, a family owned business, until her retirement.
The most important aspect in Sharon's life was her family. She was of Catholic faith and a member of Divine Mercy Parish. She also taught CCD. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bridge with friends, playing board games, reading, gardening, and sewing and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs. She loved to be at the lake and go fishing. Although Christmas was her favorite, she made all holidays special. She was also a Girl Scout leader and made hundreds of angels for Hospice.
Survivors include her husband, Jack of Burlington; daughters, Karen (Kent) Belmont of Oskaloosa, IA, Ann (Bryan) Humphrey of Burlington, Julie (Calvin) Gaddis of Burlington, and Joanie (Bill) Price of Burlington, IA; grandchildren, Cody Landgrebe, Zachary Belmont, Grant Humphrey, Maggie Peterson, Keith Gaddis, and Alexandra Stetson, Paige Stahly, Sydney Terranella, Sophie, Sunny, Arnold, and Sergio Price; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Memphis Landgrebe, Peyton, Porter, Jack Humphrey, Rayleigh White, Kaedi and Acacia Gaddis, and Abel and Willa Stahly, brothers, Tom (Judy) Orth of Burlington, Dan (Sue) Orth of Burlington, Tim (Bambi) Orth of Burlington, Bart (Ellen) Orth of Burlington, Rick (Carrie) Orth of Burlington, IA, and Tony (Carol Ann) Orth of Burlington; sister, Beth (Landis) Hinesley of Las Cruces, NM; and sisters-in-law, Sherri Orth of Utah, and Kathy Orth of Burlington several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Shea Belmont and three brothers, Albert Jr., Henry and Pete Orth.
Due to the rise of Covid-19, the family has requested that everyone in attendance to social distance and wear a mask.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 PM Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Divine Mercy Parish - St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Carspecken will be 1:00 PM Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. James Flattery as the Celebrant. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the Burlington Area Home Hospice and Divine Mercy Parish.
