Betty A. Shoemaker, 93, formerly of Burlington, died at 9:35 pm Sunday, July 21, 2019, at the North Adams Home in Mendon, IL.
Born May 8, 1926, in Burlington, IA, she was the daughter of Guy and Florence Hartman Schnedler. On November 19, 1942, she married Oral Edward Shoemaker in Kahoka, MO. He died, July 12, 1993.
Betty worked in the recorders office and auditors office for the Des Moines County Court House.
She was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing decorating eggs, and loved dogs.
Survivors include two sons: Oral (Shirley) Shoemaker of Quincy, IL and Dale (Debby) Shoemaker of Burlington; three grandchildren: Jim (Melinda) Shoemaker, Amy Shoemaker and Erika (David) Prindle; eight great-grandchildren: Brenden and Kierstin Shoemaker, Jacob (Tasha), Nathaniel, Seth and Ethan Hultz and Alec (Kaitlin) and Wyatt Prindle and three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Edward Schnedler.
The Private Family Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Shoemaker will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
