Obituary

Shirley Ann Burger, 87, of Burlington, died Monday, August 10, 2020 at her home.
Born May 9, 1933 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of Annie Smith Gontero. She married Carl Walter Burger September 29, 1951 in Gardeau, PA. He died March 30, 2004.
Shirley worked at Champion Spark Plug until her retirement and was a homemaker.
She was of the Christian faith.
Her favorite pastimes included fishing, taking care of family, watching old westerns, playing cards and games, and spending time at the cabin.
Survivors include four children, Vicki (Richard) Mackie of Florida, Karen Ziegelmeyer of Burlington, Cheryl (Steve) Duke of Keosauqua, Steven (Shelley) Burger of Burlington; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Lynn Gontero of Iowa City, IA; and one sister Yvonne Kaminski of Dallas City, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother.
The private graveside service will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
