Kerry Paul Erts, 62, of Burlington, IA, died on July 27, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospital.
Kerry was born in Burlington, IA on December 5, 1957. He was the son of Keith and Carolyn Erts and older brother of Elizabeth (Kevin) Carr of Burlington, IA.
Kerry graduated from Burlington Community High School in 1976. He played on the 1975 BHS undefeated football team and ran track. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1980 with a B.S. degree in marketing.
Kerry started his career with Chittenden and Eastman Company in Wichita, KS. He met and married Ann Reynolds there in 1985. They moved to the Quad Cities, he became an insurance agent and they had two sons; Brett Erts of Burlington, IA and Sean Erts of Los Angeles, CA. They divorced in 2009.
Kerry and family moved to Burlington in 1997 and he worked in the insurance industry, earning several top sales awards. He was an active member at Grace United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and was an assistant Boy Scout leader. Kerry loved the outdoors, especially trout fishing. He also loved to watch the Hawkeye and Packer games with his sons and dog Max.
Kerry is survived by his parents, sister, sons, nephew Matthew (Charli) Carr of Peoria, IL and niece Abigail (Michael) Mendez of Shawnee, KS, and special friend Angie Walters.
Services for Kerry will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1st at Lunning Chapel. Rev. Tamara Wirt will officiate. Inurnment will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Per CDC guidelines, family requests masks and social distancing guidelines be followed.
A memorial has been established for Grace United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
