Melba Anne Richmond Davilla, 95, of Denver, IA, formerly of rural Carman, IL, died at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the Denver Sunset Home.
Born June 16, 1924 in rural Oquawka, IL, she was the daughter of George Charles and Bertha Rowena (Rhoades) Richmond. She married Robert H. “Bob” Davilla March 24, 1945 in Athens, GA. He died January 3, 2006.
Melba attended Monmouth College and was owner and president of Davilla Farms Ltd.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Burlington, IA, where she helped in the kindergarten Sunday School.
She was an Alpha Xi Delta (Order of the Diamond) 75 year member, Burlington Golf Club member for 57 years, belonged to bridge clubs, neighborhood pinochle club, volunteered at the BMC gift shop, and King’s Daughters. She loved to socialize, make reservations, and enjoyed her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Davilla of Des Moines, IA, and Roberta Davilla Robbins of Denver, IA; three grandchildren, Peter (Brooke Hunter) Adams, of St. Paul, MN, Edward “Ned” (Megan) Adams, of Carman, IL, and Kaitlin (David) Beaumont, of Denver, IA; and six great-grandchildren, Stephanie Adams, of Biggsville, IL, Jackson Adams, of Carman, IL, Braven, Cannen, Tyesen, and Sutten Beaumont, of Denver, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; her parents; brother, Harold “Max” Richmond; son-in-law, Rev. Jeffrey Robbins; three nephews, David, George, and Stephen Richmond; and cousins.
There will be a private family graveside service for Mrs. Davilla.
Friends may call noon to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 15th at Lunning Chapel.
A memorial has been established for the Gladstone, Biggsville, or Oquawka United Methodist Church.
