Marjorie M. Bell, 93, of Burlington died Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Addington Place in Burlington.
Born August 10, 1928, she was the daughter of Ransom and Gertrude (Tonkinson) Laughlin.
Marjorie attended Sperry Iowa High School. On May 18, 1945, she married Jimmie C. Bell in Ottumwa, IA. He died January 3, 1998. She married Bill Kunze in Mesa, AZ, on February 14, 2000. He died September 5, 2006.
Marjorie was a clerk in the Des Moines County Treasurer’s office for 12 years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Burlington. She loved to play piano and organ. She never had a lesson and played by ear.
Survivors include her daughter Judith A. (LaVon) Worley of Burlington; grandchildren Christine Kinkead and Debra Gardiner of Fort Worth, TX, and Charles “Chip” Gardiner of Savage, MN; great grandchildren, Sophie, Abby, and Charley Gardiner and Caleb Jiminez.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.
The celebration of life for Marjorie will be Monday, March 7, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Lunning Chapel. Family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until the time of service. Interment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Hospice, Capitol Theater, Des Moines County Historical Society, and Des Moines County Humane Society.
