Obituary
Darrel Eugene Wixom, 84, of Burlington died on Wednesday, May 25 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Keokuk on June 29, 1937, he was the son of Samuel and Winifred Wixom. On November 29, 1958 he married Sharon Neff in Iowa City. He served with the 10th Mountain Division in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1955-1957. He later worked at Sweetheart Bakery, Caterpillar, and the Iowa Army Ammunition plant, where he retired. His interests included the Chicago Cubs, feeding the squirrels and birds, bowling, and watching Wheel of Fortune nightly with his children.
Survivors include his 5 children, Dan Wixom (Gwen), Denise Carle (Jerry), Denine Johnson, and Dwayne Wixom, all of Burlington and David Wixom (Teresa) of Texas. Also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and 4 brothers, Bill, Edward, Dick, and Samuel (in infancy).
Darrel will be cremated according to his wishes with no funeral services. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established for the Burlington Parks.
