David E. Klaus, 80, of Burlington, died Friday, January 14, 2022 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Burlington.
Born April 28, 1941 in Burlington, Iowa he was the son of Everett William and Virginia Ruth (Eads) Klaus. He married Kathryn Van Dyke on June 25, 1995. She died November 24, 2021.
David worked in assembly at General Electric for 30 years until his retirement in 1995. He served as a Corporal in the Marine Corps. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #729, Ducks Unlimited, NRA and the Quarter Century Club.
He enjoyed duck hunting, fishing and trap shooting.
Survivors include his son David Klaus of Burlington; two step daughters; Julia Phelps of Houston, Texas and Amanda Smith of Burlington; two grandchildren, David Klaus and Abygail Klaus; four step grandchildren, Julia, Olivia, Hannah and Savannah; two sisters, Sylvia Ridinger of Trenton, Iowa and Zanythe Wibstud of Trenton, Iowa; one brother Steve Klaus of Danville, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Katheryn, one son Matthew and two sisters Barbara and Patricia.
The funeral service for Mr. Klaus will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Lunning Chapel. Hamilton-Walters Marine Corp League will perform military rites. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
