Obituary
Margaret Dorothy Johnson Hardy Schupick was born (at home) in Mediapolis, IA to Francis Victor Emmanuel Johnson and Gerda Christina (Sanders) Johnson on March 19, 1926.
She went to a country school in the Ordnance Plant area through 8th grade and graduated from Burlington High School in 1943. She married Lee R. Hardy in 1945. He passed away October 12, 1983. In January 1991 she married Paul J. Schupick. He passed away December 10, 2001.
She was a homemaker working part-time at J.S. Schramm Co. and Kardans. She was a Realtor Associate for her husband Hardy Real Estate for 7 years. She then worked at I.A.A.P until her retirement in 1992.
She was a lifetime member of Messiah Lutheran Church and Ruth Circle. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles Club and a former Elk’s member.
She is survived by sons, Steven R. (Debi) Hardy of Burlington, Chad J. (Christina) Hardy of Richfield, Minnesota; two daughters, Lori L. (Robert) Bruce of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and Susan C. Rademacher of Bloomington, Minnesota; half sister-in-law Eileen (Ed) Pickard of Fairfield, Iowa; half brother-in-law Marvin Hardy of Wapello, Iowa.
Also surviving are step-sons, Tim (Denise) Schupick of Mason City, Iowa, Doug (Eleanor) Schupick of Burlington, Iowa; step-daughter Julie (Bob) Setterberg of West Point, Iowa; son-in-law Jim Scudder of Burlington.
She has 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Her greatest love was her family and extended family plus many very special friends. She did a lot of baking—angel food cakes, pies and cookies which she freely gave out. In her younger years she did a lot of sewing and designing dresses for her and her daughters. Dancing was very important to her.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husbands Lee Hardy and Paul Schupick, brothers Lloyd (Mary Lou) Johnson, Dale (Ethel) Johnson, sister, Linnea Manlove, nephews Lynn Decker and Gary Johnson, niece LuAnn Clark and step-daughter Paula Scudder.
The memorial funeral service for Mrs. Schupick will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1st at Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Susanne Smith will officiate. Inurnment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Messiah Lutheran Church and the American Cancer Society for Lung Cancer research.
According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
