Emmet James Gantz Jr., 89, of Burlington, Iowa died at Great River Medical Center, ICU, on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11:58 a.m.
Born on September 28, 1921, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Emmett J. Sr. and Laura Hanson Gantz. He married Virginia Mary Stephenson on November 12, 1944 in Burlington, Iowa.
Emmett was employed by IAAP for over 30 years. He was a private person who was loved by his friends and family. Although keeping to himself, he was a philanthropic and caring individual.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Gantz of Burlington, Iowa; one son, Larry Gantz of Burlington, Iowa; one daughter, Sharon Oge of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
No formal services are planned at this time. A memorial has been established for Great River Medical Center ICU.
