Jerry B. Magel, 76, of Burlington died Friday, April 17, 2020 at his home.
Born on July 18, 1943 in Brownwood, Texas, he was the son of Harold Robert and Ovida LaVelle (Morrison) Magel. On September 24, 1966 he married Joan Williams in West Burlington. She preceded him in death on November 17, 2008.
He graduated from Burlington High School and was a 2nd Class Electricians Mate in the United States Navy from 1962 – 1966.
Jerry was an Electrician for IBEW Local 13 for 37 years retiring in 2005.
He was a member of First United Church of Christ, VFW Post 10102, Am Vets Post 29, American Legion, and Malta Lodge #318 A.F. & A.M.
Jerry enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Survivors include; his two sons Darren Lee Magel of Frisco, Texas, and Daniel Robert Magel of Tampa Bay, Florida; two grandchildren; one brother Larry Magel of West Burlington, and brother-in- law Richard Garnjobst of Burlington.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Connie Garnjobst.
According to Jerry’s wishes his body has been cremated and there will be no visitation or services.
