Obituary
Sandra Lea Easley, 66, of Burlington, died Friday, August 27, 2021 in her home.
Born October 1, 1954 in Henry County, Iowa she was the daughter of Earl Oliver and Donnie and Bonnie Jean (Wasson) Bowers.
In July of 1982, Sandy and her sister, along with her soon to be brother-in-law Darrell and another male friend went canoeing down the Skunk River. Wayne Easley happened to camping as well in the area and had known Sandy and her sister for quite some time. Wayne and Sandy reconnected that day. As the day went on, Sandy and the other three passengers in their canoe were overturned in the Mississippi River area of the Skunk River and found themselves hanging on to tree limbs nearby. Wayne had been following the group and noticed they were in trouble. Wayne used a rope off the shore and brought all four to the shore. Their relationship began that evening, and on April 29, 1988, Sandra married Wayne, and together they celebrated 33 years of marriage.
Sandy was a Structural Supervisor for Hope Haven. She was a very generous and giving “superwoman” and loved collecting angels. She had an entire “angel room” dedicated to her passion.
She is survived by her husband Wayne Easley of Burlington; four children, Corey (Crystal) Calvin and Wendy Calvin both of Burlington, Michael (Michelle) Easley of Iowa City and Jason (Mindy) Easley of Burlington; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister Loretta Rice of Winfield, Iowa; brother-in-law Darrell Kelly; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, son Ricky in infancy, granddaughter Tiffany, sister Carlotta Kelly, brother Steve, brother-in-law Dennis Rice, aunts and uncles.
A private family graveside interment was held for Sandra at Aspen Grove Cemetery on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Hope Haven.
