Gunnar Sexten Tenglin, 85, of 508 Ironwood St., Burlington, died at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 1996, at Burlington Medical Center. Born Jan 16, 1911, in Stockholm, Sweden, he was the son of Gunnar and Anna Anderson Tenglin. He married Mildred Johnson in 1936 in Kahoka, Mo. Mr. Tenglin came to Burlington in 1912, and attended Burlington schools. Hee worked for Burrus Granite Co. and J.I. Case Co. for 19 years as a government certified welder. He retired from W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison, where he worked as a welder and hear treater for 19 1/2 years. He was of the Protestant faith. He was an active member and official of Boy Scouts of America Troop 1, serving as treasurer, committeeman and assistant at Camp Eastman. He built many projects from wood, including his own home. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid gardener. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Diane West of Lakewood, Colo.; one son, Gene Tenglin of Dearborn, Mich.; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and two uncles. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Sunday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Tenglin will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. David Mixon officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts.
