Mrs. Ruth Marie "Betty" Tee, 87, of Burlington, died at 8:34 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010, at her home. Born March 7, 1923, in Oquawka, Ill, she was the daughter of Orville Clifford and Ethel Minnie Zimmerman Whitmore. She married W. M. Tee in Paducah, KY. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Tee lived in Burlington since 1984, moving here from Oquawka, Ill. She attended schools in rural Wever and Colona, Ill., and in Burlington. She was formerly employed by Warren Achievement Center of Monmouth, Children and Family Services in the capacity of social worker for abused children, and at Henderson County Department of Public Aging, Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids as an inspector, and at Campbell Chain of Burlington. She spent her retiring years caring for children in her home, which she found the most rewarding. She was an avid seamstress, designer, and copyright owner of "Betty-Bye Beds," and she enjoyed flowers. Survivors include one sister, Joyce E. Whitmore of Cedar Falls; one brother, Keith R. Whitmore of Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and three brothers. The funeral service for Mrs. Tee will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Mark Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery Linden Gardens. Memorials have been established for Samaritans Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607, Hope Haven, and the Battered Women's Shelter of Burlington.
