Maxine Marie Taylor Green, 87, of Burlington died at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born February 15, 1929 in Augusta, Iowa, she was the daughter of Arthur R. and Mary Louise (Schirmer) Staub. On October 16, 1954 she married Donald F. Taylor who preceded her in death on May 26, 1991. On November 18, 2000 she married Loren Green who preceded her in death on July 27, 2001.
Maxine worked at Sylvania, IRC/TRW, Burlington Golf Club and in the kitchen at Great River Medical Center. She also owned two businesses.
Maxine was of the Catholic faith. She had a passion for owls and had quite the collection. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, fishing, time spent on the river, dancing and a cold glass of beer. She enjoyed watching nature - especially hummingbirds. Riding in her convertible and being outdoors. She loved time spent with her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary (Tim) Edgerly of Chaparral, New Mexico, Alma (Larry) Kirby of West Burlington and Terri (Chuck) Swanner of Burlington; one son, LaVerne (Lori) Taylor of Burlington; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, four brothers, four sisters, one daughter Twilla Leaming, and one grandson Ross Taylor.
The Celebration of Life for Maxine will be from 1 until 4 p.m. Sunday, November 13th, at the Moose Lodge. A private inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established for Faces of Courage of the Kayla Atkins Foundation.
Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
