Dorothy Marie Swanson, 89, of Burlington, died at Danville Care Center, Danville, Iowa, on Monday evening, January 7, 2013.
Born on August 21, 1923 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, she was the daughter of Max and Grace Keller Schindall.
Dorothy was employed by Midwest Biscuit and also worked as a restaurant manager at Neisener’s. She enjoyed making hand stitched quilts, animals and cooking for her family. Her cooking specialty was fried chicken.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen (Charles) Thomas of Burlington, Iowa, Bonnie Bottger of Oakwood, Illinios and Pam Swanson of Olds, Iowa; one son, Ronnie Swanson of Montoursville, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Terri, Eric and Heather; five great-grandchildren, Abagail, Alex, Logan, Alyssa and Connor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kenneth Keller; and one son, Alan Dale Swanson.
Funeral services for Dorothy Marie Swanson will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Prugh’s Chapel, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor JudyAnn Morse will officiate. Interment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa.
Friends may call after 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Prugh’s Chapel.
