Donald C. Swanson, 85, of New London, died at 8:25 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2007, at Donnellson Health Care Center. Born January 7, 1922, in Storm Lake, he was the son of Conrad and Judith Lundquist Swanson. On March 12, 1949, he maried Viola M. Pennington Lee in Mount Pleasant. She died February 2, 2003. Mr. Swanson worked as a cement finisher and was a member of Union Local 484 OPCM. He was a Wold War II Navy veteran and a member of VFW New London Post 7641. He was Lutheran. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards and watching sports. Survivors include one daughter, Jean Seberg of Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, his parents, one stepdaughter, one stepson, one brother and four sisters. Visitation with family will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel. The funeral for Mr. Swanson will be at 2 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Donnellson Health Care Center
