Walter A Binder, 88, of 321 Summer, West Burlington, died in St. Francis Continuation Care Center at 3 pm Sunday, April 25.
He was born June 7, 1893, to Joseph and Bertha Gantz Binder in Burlington, where he married Esther Wertz on June 16, 1920.
A machinist at the Burlington Northern Railroad Shops for 42 years, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving; The wife; son Richard, Burlington; daughter Bonnie Carpenter, Wilmington, Del.; sister Katherine Conn, Gulfport, Ill.; and several grandchildren.
Funeral: 10 am Wednesday at the Lunning Chapel, the Reve. Arthur B. Campney; Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Homebuilders Class of First United Methodist Church and Des Moines County Heart Fund.
