Genevieve J. Swan, 96, of Burlington, died at 9:22 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Delmar Gardens Nursing Home in Overland Park, Kan. Born February 3, 1914, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Arthur and Anna Leola Lichtenburg Triebel. On April 20, 1946, she married Carl Swan in Monmouth, Ill. Mrs. Swan was a homemaker, and worked at her husband's business, Color Ad Sign, part time. She later worked in a school cafeteria. She grew up in Burlington, and lived in many areas of the country during her husband's time in the Navy. She enjoyed travel, the open planted fields of Iowa, reciting the Lord's Prayer, watching Lawrence Welk and Wheel of Fortune, and reading the Bible and Guidepost. Survivors include twin daughters, Barbara Birch of Kansas City, MO, and Deborah Swan-Ellis of Lowell, Mich.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister, and one brother. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Prugh's Funeral Home in Burlington, where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Swan will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established.
