Peggy Mary Summers, 83, of Burlington, died at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at her home. Born June 2, 1927, in West Burlington, she was the daughter of Joseph M. and Evelyn C. Holler Gamble. On July 4, 1949, she married Wallie N. Summers in West Burlington. He died February 6, 1977. Mrs. Summers was a homemaker and worked at Champion for more than 10 years. She was a member of Golden Oldies and Dancing Grannies. She enjoyed walking, volunteer work at Autumn Heights and RSVP. Survivors include two daughters, Lori Jo Ackman of Macomb, Ill., and Merry Lou Jorgensen of Janesville, Wis.; two sons, Larry N. Summers of Blandinsville, Ill., and Michael L. Summers of Madison, GA; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, where family will receive friends. The funeral for Mrs. Summers will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
