Dale E. Sullivan, 91, of Burlington, died at 1:00 AM Monday, June 19, 2017, at his home.
Born April 22, 1926, in Burlington, he was the son of John H. and Winnie May Ancelet Sullivan.
Mr. Sullivan was an Iron Worker for Union local #577 since 1949. He retired in 1980.
He was a 1944 graduate of Burlington High School and 1948 graduate of Burlington Junior College.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran serving in WW II and Korea with the 45th troop carrier squadron. He was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, model aviation, woodworking, and mushroom hunting.
Survivors include eight nieces and nephews, Cheryl (Jim) Smith of Burlington, Rhonda Wilson of Burlington, Jeffrey A. Wilson of Middletown, Lynne Wilson of Burlington, Kathleen (Rick) Schleiter of Burlington, Susan Myers of Danville, Gail Sullivan of New York, NY, Benne Sullivan of Lake Norden, SD; two sisters-in-law, Olive Sullivan of Burlington, Marilyn Sullivan of West Burlington, one brother-in-law, Kenneth Wilson of Burlington, and numerous grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leroy and Robert; one sister, Doris Wilson; and one nephew, Gary Wilson.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Sullivan will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 23, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Chaplain Rick Pollin officiating and full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory following the service. Private family burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Great River Hospice.
