Lucy Elizabeth Derry Sullivan, 100, of Bickford Cottage in Burlington, died at 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2006, at Bickford Cottage in Burlington. Born October 7, 1905, in Adair, Illinois, she was the daughter of James and Lyda Stewart Derry. On August 14, 1924, she married Carl Rexroat Sullivan in Peoria, Illinois. He died July 7, 1974. Mrs. Sullivan was a graduate of Adair (llinois) High School. She worked at the Iowa Army Ammuniction Plant during World War II. She also worked at Witte Drug Store, Schramm's, managed The Toy Store and Newsland. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a 50 year member of the White Shrine and Eastern Star. She was also a member of PEO Chapter NH, Norman Circle of King's Daughters and several bridge clubs. She loved to travel and play bridge. She also enjoyed her pets and flowers. She volunteered at the Welcome Center and the log cabin in Crapo Park. She was an artist and painted mostly still lifes. Survivors include her daughter, Julane (Jim) Hugg of Burlington; grandchildren, Connie (Bill) Sawyer of Newark, California, Steven (Julie) Hugg of Marion, Iowa, and Martin (Teresa) Salino-Hugg of Burlington; and five great-grand- children, Jaclyn Hugg of Wichita, Kansas, Jena Hugg and Jarrett Hugg both of Marion, and Anna Salino-Hugg and Michael Salino-Hugg both of Burlington. Her husand, parents, two brothers and five sisters preceded her in death. Friends may call from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 3rd in Luning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service for Mrs. Sullivan will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 4th, in Lunning Chapel. Reverend Dennis Tevis will officiate interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. :Memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church, Great River Hospice and Bickford Cottage.
