Mr. Irvin Binder, 85, of 2024 Sunnyside died at 4 am Jan. 18, at St. Francis Continuation Care Center.
He was born Nov. 22, 1900, in Burlington, to August and Teresa Gantz Binder. He married Elizabeth Poehl Nov. 24, 1921, in Burlington. She died Oct. 25, 1978. He married Thelma Taylor Aug. 27, 1981.
He was superintendent of the Aspen Grove Cemetery for many years and a member of the Steamfitters Local.
Mr. Binder was a member of the First United Church of Christ.
Surviving: His wife, one daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Wellman, San Carlos, Calif.; one son, Warren Binder, St. Joseph Mo.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Pat Gordon, Burlington; one stepson, Douglas Taylor, Burlington; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Frances Brust, Burlington.
Services: 3 pm Tuesday, Lunning Chapel; Rev. D., Gene Krous; Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the First United Church of Christ.
