Richard L. Bindle Jr., 29, of Burlington, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, near West Point.
Born July 31, 1970, in Burlington he was the son of Richard L. and Martha “Marti” Lorene Sly Bindel.
Mr. Bindel was a 1988 graduate of West Burlington High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College where he ran cross country. He served in the Army and Reserves from 1988 to 1996 and had worked as an account room supervisor at Catfish Bend Casino for the past year and a half.
He was a member of the Church of the Open Bible in Burlington.
Survivors include two Michael Dean Bindel of Burlington and Christopher Bindel of Kentucky; one daughter, Christina Bindel of Kentucky; his father of Forest City; his mother of Burlington; two sisters, Apryl Green of Witchita, Kan., and Amy Purdum of Burlington; one brother, Samuel Bindel, stationed with the US Army in Germany; a half-sister, Beth Anne Bindel of Forest City; his maternal grandmother, Beulah Sly of Burlington; his paternal grandmother, Ruby Casteel of Lawton, Okla.; one niece; one nephew; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers and one uncle.
Visitation will begin at 9 am Sunday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm.
The funeral for Mr. Bindel will be at 1:30 pm Monday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. William Hornback officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
