Mr. Sidney Stratton, 92, of West Burlington died at 8:44 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at his home.
Born June 18, 1925 in Titonka, Iowa, he was the son of Charles and Dovie (Wise) Stratton. On June 30, 1951 he married Ruth Leymaster in Charles City, Iowa.
Mr. Stratton was a Navy veteran serving in WWII on the USS Chestnut.
Mr. Stratton was an insurance salesman and also owned and operated a paint and wallpaper store.
Mr. Stratton loved his yardwork with both vegetable and flower gardens, feeding the birds, and being outdoors. His time with his family, grandkids and great grandkids was precious to him.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruth Stratton of West Burlington; three daughters, Kathleen (Michael C.) Hoschek of West Burlington, Linda (Joel) Mason of Middletown and Joanie (Jon) Snow of Clear Lake; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Margie, three sisters, and four brothers.
The funeral service for Mr. Stratton will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 16th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
