Norman Joseph Stigge, 86, of Burlington, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008, at Great River Medical Center Klein Center in Burlington. Born September 16, 1921, in Burlington, he was the son of Henry John and Rose Karger Stigge. On May 18, 1947, he married Helen Margaret Loose in Burlington. She died April 18, 2000. Mr. Stigge worked as an upholsterer for Chittenden and Eastman and in production at General Electric, retiring in 1985. He was a Burlington High School graduate and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of First United Church of Christ and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 150. He enjoyed gardening and was proud of his flower bed. Survivors include one niece, Barbara Schindall of Burlington. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel. The graveside service and burial with military rites for Mr. Stigge will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. JudyAnn Morse officiating. A memorial has been established for First United Church of Christ.
