Larry W. Stewart, 59, of Danville, died at 1:20 AM Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born May 26, 1954, in Burlington, he was the son of James N. and Louise Atherton Stewart. On May 14, 1977, he married Ruth Ann Baker in Burlington. Larry worked for A.Y. McDonald and a gardener at the Southeastern Community College Greenhouse. He had received his Associated of Arts Degree in Horticulture. He was of the Christian faith. He was a member of the Stained Glass Artisans. He enjoyed organic gardening, 70's music, bird watching, and helping others. He was known as a free spirit. He loved Jesus, his dog, "Layla" and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann; one son, Matthew Stewart of Yarmouth, IA; one daughter, Sarah Stewart of Des Moines, IA; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday December 7, 2013 at Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends. The memorial service for Mr. Stewart will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Baker officiating. A private family burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
