Maretta Stephens 93, of Burlington Care Center, died at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at the care center. Born March 12, 1907, in McIntyre, Ga., she was the daughter of William and Eddie Mae Gotier. Ms. Stephens worked as a housekeeper at Hotel Burlington and the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. She was a member of Greater Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking and crocheting. Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Robinson of Burlington; six grandchildren; 19 great-grand- children; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and one brother. No formal visitation is planned; however, friends may call at Prugh's Chapel after noon Thursday. The funeral for Ms. Stephens will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Prugh's Chapel, with the Revs. Harold Davis, Gene Brown and Bobby Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
