Elenore Maxine Staub died Saturday, December 4, 2010, at GRMC, Klein Unit, Burlington, Iowa. She was born in Burlington, Iowa, January 21, 1926, the daughter of Harry and Edith May Peel Harmon. On November 3, 1944, she married Ore Henry Staub in Ft. Madison, Iowa. Maxine was the Executive Secretary of Selective Service for 20 years. She also worked at the Ordinance Plant when she was younger during WWII where she met her husband, and she did freelance office work for many different places. She taught Adult Basic Education, teaching people to read, and received the Governor's Award. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and teaching Bible Studies. Maxine was a lifelong member of Church of Christ in Burlington. She is survived by two daughters, Leanne Rae Majors of Newton, Iowa, and Melanie Staub. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother, Harold "Doc" Harmon; and two sisters, Wilma Parsons and Doris Harmon. Following cremation, private interment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Church of Christ, 2120 S. Roosevelt Ave., Burlington.
