Dorothy Stadtlander Standard, 90, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Great River Klein Center in Burlington. Born July 3, 1921, in Burlington, she was the daughter of William and Hulda Steinhauer Stadtlander. On Dec. 17, 1945, she married James W. Standard, Sr. in Burlington. He died Sept. 26, 1987. Mrs. Standard owned and operated Stadtlander Confectioneries, and worked for Benner Tea Co., Sears, and Dr. Scurr. She and her husband owned and operated Bartels Electric Motors. She was affiliated with Community of Christ Church. She collected Hummel figurines, and could list all the ice cream flavors from Stadtlanders. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, playing cards, talking on the phone, reciting poems, and time with family. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Weinreich of Lomax, Ill., and Patricia Schreiner of Burlington; four sons, James Standard, Jr., Steven Standard, Tim Standard, and Dennis Standard, all of Burlington; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grand- children. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, one great-grandchild, her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, where family will receive friends. The funeral for Mrs. Standard will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel, with Suzan Strandberg officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials have been established for Great River Medical Center, Klein Unit, and Great River Hospice.
