James W. "Bill" Standard, 67, of 901 S. Main St., died 6:10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 1987, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.
Born May 21, 1920, in Pulaski, he was the son of Millard and Elizabeth Hummel Standard. He married Dorothy Stadtlander Dec. 17, 1945, in Burlington. He was associated with Bartel
Electric Motors for 39 years as its foreman and operator. He served as a U.S. Army engineer in World War II. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Surviving are his wife; six children, Mrs. Betty Weinrich, James W. Standard Jr., Patricia Standard, Steven Standard, Dennis Standard and Tim L. Standard, all of Burlington; one brother, R.E. Standard, Galesburg, Ill.; two sisters, Betty Hargrove, Republic, Mo., and Martha Aery, Las Cruces, N.M., 11 grandchildren; one great• grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel. The service for Mr. Standard will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
