Marcidell Spearman, 93, of Burlington, died at 8:55 PM Monday, April 3, 2017, at the Great River Klein Center.
Born November 5, 1923, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Chester and Effie Mae Haney Hills. On October 24, 1946, she married Neal Paul Spearman in Burlington. He died on March 26, 2011.
Marcy worked at the Iowa Ordinance Plant during World War II and retired from Chittenden Eastman Co. with 32 years of service.
She was a member of SS Mary & Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington. She was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She loved dancing to music of the Big Bands at Eagles Club & Memorial Auditorium. She enjoyed playing bingo, word find books, and having her morning coffee with friends at Autumn Heights.
Survivors include one daughter, Gaylea (Gene) Gaines of Burlington; three sons, Richard Spearman of West Point, Bill (Roxie) Spearman, and Joe Spearman both of Morning Sun; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Shipley of Kansas City, MO; several nieces & nephews; one sister-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, one infant daughter, eldest son, Mike, one sister, Melba Hostetter, and one brother, Lester L. Hills.
As per Marcy's request cremation has been accorded.
A private family celebration of life for Mrs. Spearman will be at the Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home with Father Bill Roush officiating. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials have been established for SS Mary & Patrick Catholic Church & Great River Hospice.
