Mary C. Sourwine, 96, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant. Born May 18, 1911, in Burlington, she was the daughter of James Nicholas and Ella Emma Schwartz Byrne. On February 24, 1932, she married Chester William Sourwine in Burlington. He died February 10, 1993. Mrs. Sourwine was a homemaker. She helped her husband farm. She attended school in Burlington. She attended First United Methodist Church, Oakland Mills Community Church, Rome Baptist Church and Pleasantview Mennonite Church. She was active in the ladies aides of First United Methodist and Oakland Mills Community. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, baking and quilting. Survivors include one daughter, Charlene Klump of Bowie, Ariz.; Eight grandchildren; 18 great-grand-children; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son and one grandson. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Weir & Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant where family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Sourwine will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials have been established for Pleasant Manor Care Center and Oakland Mills Community Church.
