Tessie Mae “Tess” Bergquist, 86, of Burlington, died at Great River Hospice House, on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 7:47 a.m.
Born on January 21, 1925 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of William Louis Lee Henry and Jessie Mary Louise Sattler Dodd. She married Carl Andrew Bergquist on March 21, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. He died on March 28, 1985.
Tessie was a homemaker. She loved to read, cook, crochet and spend time with her family. She was a member of the Eagles Club, VFW Women’s Auxiliary and Bethany Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Lynn (Rodney) Wittkamp and Robin Lee (David) York, both of Burlington, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one daughter, Cynthia Ann Siems; one brother, William Dodd; and one sister, Hazel Dodd Dideriksen Trickler.
Funeral services for Tessie Mae Bergquist will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Prugh’s Chapel, Burlington, Iowa. Rev. Daniel Siems will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa. Friends may call on Tuesday in Prugh’s Chapel from 8:00 a.m.until 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in Prugh’s Chapel.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
