Obituary

Linda Jane Bertlshofer, 53, of Burlington, died at 4:46 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Aug. 18, 1947, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Warren K. and Dorothy McNeil Anderson. On June 21, 1969, she married Tom Bertlshofer in Burlington. Mrs. Bertlshofer was a second-grade teacher at Black Hawk Elementary School for 30 years. She was a 1965 graduate of Burlington High School, a graduate of Southeastern Community College, and received her bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb. She was a member of Burlington Education Association. She loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband; two sons, David Bertlshofer of Cedar Rapids and Brian Bertlshofer of Burlington; one granddaughter; her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Cy Dorothy of Burlington; one brother, Jerry Anderson of Burlington; her maternal grandmother, Geneva McNeil of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Friday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Bertlshofer will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Beaty officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
